A Shimmering Fruit Bowl Centerpiece

A Shimmering Fruit Bowl CenterpieceWell, you’ve been rushing over the past few weeks and now it’s New Year’s Eve and of course, you’ve quickly thrown together a last minute New Year’s Eve party. You want to jazz up your dessert table but just didn’t have the time to put too much thought into it…well, I hear that all the time. One of the simplest decorations that makes for a really lovely centerpiece for any holiday table is gold (or silver dusted) fruit. I’m actually partial to the gold because I find that it gives fruit a lovely glow that can be seen from across the room…

My favorite fruits to use in these types of displays are fresh currants or tiny bunches of grapes, raspberries, blackberries, tiny seckle pears, mini apples (even small crab apples) and just about anything else that is small and delicate. You can turn this into a flower arrangement and include some delicate greens that you can pick up from any florist, or you can simply do what I did and simply dust the fruit and arrange them in a pretty bowl…it’s that easy. Make a large display or smaller ones. You can use just the fruit to make a display or serve them over your dessert of choice.

Assorted fruit
Gold or silver luster dust
Clean brush
Bowl to accommodate your fruit

Place the fruit in the refrigerator for about an hour before you are ready to brush on the gold. When you remove them, the condensation will help the gold powder stick to the surface. Gently brush the powder on the surface of all the fruit and then arrange them in your fruit bowl. Simple, easy and beautiful!
